Pakistan bowlers constrained West Indies to 221 runs for six wickets in the selected 50 overs in the first one-day international of five match series here at the Beausejour Cricket Ground here on Saturday.West Indies captain Darren Sammy won the toss and elected to bat, the West Indies could not make adequate runs regardless of losing only six wickets. Darren Bravo was the main player with 67, from 109 balls as no other batsman could reach even 30.
West Indies were 178runs for 6 wickets in 45 overs but Sammy picked up the pace to increase the run-rate in the last five overs to set Pakistan a target of 222. He stayed not out on 29, from 17 balls with three fours and two sixes.
From Pakistan side, left-arm fast-medium bowler Wahab Riaz picked up two wickets but he expensive giving 62 runs in his ten overs while off-spinners Saeed Ajmal and Mohammad Hafeez got one wicket each for 24 and 36, respectively.
Pakistan handed caps to three players as wicketkeeper Mohammad Salman, fast bowler Junaid Khan and allrounder Hammad Azam.
